A Vertically Integrated Project at Tech

Diplomacy Lab is a collaboration between the US State Department and US colleges and universities Our particular project focuses on helping government organizations and nonprofits reach rural and socially conservative communities that are difficult to reach through traditional means.

As a group, we researched a variety of possible solutions to them problem ranging from drones to clothing tags before settling on packaging. We wanted our product to be as open ended as possible in terms of functionalities because different entities will requires different languages or even images. We also wanted our product to be reasonably cheap and portable to maximize impact. Thus, we decided to create a compact device which would print labels created on a touchscreen. We're almost there.

I facilitated and documented our biweekly meetings. I also helped find the necessary Arduino libraries and write the code to connect the touchscreen to the thermal printer.
